Max MPG achieved?

Today I got the internal MPG gauge to go up to 46.2 MPG. Woohoo!

Interestingly, this was with minimal hypermiling (navi on, radio on, A/C button off but blowing in outside air). I think I could have gotten up to 50MPG, but everyone behind me would have been honking something nasty.

What is the max you have achieved?

The best tank was 44.3 MPG calculated by trip miles/gallons. This usually works out about 1 1/2 MPG less than the trip computer, which I've always found to be indicate 4% high.

Over 48,000 miles I'd say we averaged 38+ MPG, with a max. 636 miles on a tank running not too far into the reserve. During the NH winters with short trips and the seat heaters, we had one tank at 29MPG with a winter average of about 34MPG.

For comparison, I just picked up a 2009 Corvette Z06 (505HP) and it got 24.9 MPG from NJ to NH, which I thought was quite good.

Best tank was just over 700mi at 47.3 mpg with ~2.5gal still in the tank at fillup.

Best trip was just over 214mpg over 25 mi. We stopped at the top on the Needles Scenic parkway in the Black Hills, from there it was mostly downhill...

well, donno what you referring to as internal gauge.
i have 3. one on the dashboard, that one shows instantaneous mpg; it's useless; i can get it to 99 if i want to.
one on nav system, under "consumption" that shows instantaneous again; useless too. same as above.
one next to one above, showing "best average". that one i do trust. i bought mine in april, had her to 42 average, summer time, which is quite good for Seattle up and down area.
but it all went down to shambles as she does not like cold weather. it was at 39.5 best before last refill; i am resetting those numbers every time i refill, and it's getting progressively colder, so i think it will drop down to 37-38 best average.

refill to miles driven calculations give 39-40mpg. keep in mind, you have to devide your mileage by gallons of the last refill, not current refill, as it's proportionate to how many gallons you have put in the tank last time, not now. but i am very consistant on my gas station, so i am not concerened about thinmgs like incline or decline or sidewise slopes, as this changes refill volume.

i got sick and tired of hypermiling, i just drive now. she's great fun to drive.

also, better mpg at city cycle is bs. it seriously drops down in stop and go traffic. she does just like any other car - best mpg cruising at 55 on freeway.
