Battery charge

2007 TCH

how long does battery charge last in your hybrids, in stop and go traffic? when i hit Seattle traffic, mine drops down to single bar, in stop and go, in about 25 minutes.

have no idea if this is normal or not. but i know that i still have powertrain under warranty, so maybe i need to raise a question with a local dealership. sounds awfully short charge time.

In traffic, my battery will go from full to empty in about 15 minutes.

That sounds OK. You might want to check what the charge level is before you get into the stop and go part of your commute. Depending on your other driving, the batteries may only start out at half level.

I have found in stop and go traffic, if I am very careful on the accelerator and just keep the car in electric only mode, it will go below 25% in 15-20 minutes. On a couple of occasions I have been able to go 2-3 miles in electric only mode.

I have an '09 Camry TCH. Where or how do I find the indicator for the battery charge?

With the Nav system, there is a screen you can pull up that shows the charge level (check you owners manual). I can't say for non-nav systems.

You can see the battery level on the screen in the instrument cluster. Hit the Display button on the steering wheel until you get to the screen with the battery and a wheel - that's the energy monitor. This shows your battery level, as well as if you're running on the ICE, traction motor, or both, as well as when regenerative braking is in effect.

now I feel like a dummy. I thought that screen just showed were the power was coming from when I drove the car.
Thankfully, you can't see how red my face is!
Thank you very much
