Cold Air Intake/ Wheels

Hey I'm new to this forum but I have a quick question. I don't know if this has been asked before or not, but I drive a 2007 Camry Hybrid and I'm looking to install a cold air intake. Is there enough room in the engine for that? Also, I need some opinions on aftermarket wheels for my car. The car is in magnetic grey.

if you care about mpg - DO NOT. your mpg will drop down.
if you care about added horse power - DO NOT. you will have none noticeable, as it shows only in the highest revs, and maybe 3-5 improvement.
if you care about cold air getting into engine - DO NOT, as there will be none. it will be just maybe few degrees lower or equal to ambient temperature. i KNOW, i had 2 CAIs and had Scangauge monitoring intake temp.

of course, what do i know, and you'll do it anyway.

if you strictly want to have HP gain - look into e-ram. http://www.electricsupercharger.com/

keep in mind simple formula though:

HIGH AIR FLOW=MORE O2 IN=O2 SENSOR PICKS UP MORE OXYGEN=MORE GAS IS PUMPED INTO THE SYSTEM=MPG LOWERS.

there is nothing, nothing you can do about it.

you welcome

i had both high air flow filter and CAI, consecutively, on my 04 CR-V. along with 1.5 yr mileage daily log and Scangauge hooked up, so I had all data showing.
had CAI on my Silverado.

in both cases, it's waste of time and money.

here's the thing though. you ever tried to FLOOR AND HOLD gas pedal? you realize she does 0 to 60 in shy of 8 seconds? and that's with my 275Lbs.
i got ticked once by an Explorer driver that decided to show me how powerful his vehicle is and how slow am i, and he did it uphill. was not wise of him, as i passed him - UPHILL - like as if he was in syrup, and ended with 110 mph at the summit.

you realize you have COMBINED 340 lb/f of torque? and something shy of 300 COMBINED horsepower? what else is that you need? stick quality high air flow air filter on her, and don't be afraid to use that power. personally, I'd probably shave all the hybrid signage off her towards summer time. it's a true sleeper. everyone thinks it's old fart's saloon, which yes, i am old fart, but lord save them from getting on my nerve too much. like some ... well, enough bragging, he-he.

How do I have 340 pounds of torque and 300 horsepower? I thought the car only have 123 pounds of torque and 192 horsepower. Yeah I've timed the car, I got 7.2 seconds 0-60 with good tires.

because in my post it says in caps - COMBINED.

read up how HSD works. under high demand, M1 kicks in and assists ICE with its torque and power. hence, you do have combined torque and hp. do your math. I can not tell you exact hp, as my data give hp for ICE and kwt-s for electrical motor, which is 104. whatever it is in hp-s. that's why Camry is so jazzy, and I have no idea why Jeremy Clarkson was bitching at Prius for being very slow. I tried to race one in my Silverado with 5.3 Vortec, Prius dusted me in a heartbeat, and with woman behind the steering wheel.

you did not really think that a 5 seater saloon did 7.2 off 2.4L four banger, did you? or 2.5, whatever. I can tell you what it takes for 2.4 Honda engine with IVTEC - 12 seconds. straight 4 banger with IVTEC, floor and hold.

OK, I'm not understanding this. I thought that the TCH's combined horsepower was 187. Where does it pick up another 113 horses?

The more accurate term would be the 'intake-noise increasing tube'.

The stock air box intake is at the top of the grille, and is sealed to get the slightly pressurized air behind the grille. You're not going to decrease temps to any measurable degree with a typical 'open box' "CAI" setup; in fact you're likely to increase the temps. You will increase the noise level, likely with several annoying RPM harmonics at different RPM. Same idea as the 'ricer' blatty mufflers - does nothing good, just increases noise..

This is awesome to know but I am wondering if someone can please explain this with more detail. I know I've been able to pass people without a problem when needed (and when they get on my nerves) but I drive a lot and with my child in the car most of the time, so I am all about keeping it easy and racking up mpg's.

I tried the CAI and I loss MPG right away ! It's al ready out of the car.

It sound louder very loud ! And it was not a beautyful sound... because there is no shifting, beurk ! It's a very No No situation.

For the COMBINED 300hp... you are lost my friend. TCH have a combined hp of 187 or so, that's it. I dont know where you take your number but my TCH doesnt fill like a 300hp car ! Mario
