parking brake question

When you set the parking brake should the brake lights light up? Is there a "stop lamp" switch in the parking brake? I know there's one in the regular brake pedal.

Thanks, that solves my other problem about all the warning lights on the dash being on after installing after market LED tail lights. They apparently didn't hook up the wire that goes to the parking brake stop lamp switch.

The parking brake activates your tail lights? I'm pretty sure that's not the case. I may try it out just to confirm, however.

really?

yes. also chimes if you drive with p-brake on.

i was simply confirming that "brake light" in the dash comes up and chimes when you try to drive with parking brake engaged. never crossed my mind to even consider outside rear brake lights. not saying it does not do it "normally". driving my truck today. but i'll check, unless andy already did. never heard of it though, but who knows.....

HEHE no problem! I asked about the brake lights lighting up when the park brake was set. I didn't ask anything about the dash. Maybe I didn't word the question right?

Also, you haven't answered my question abouth the system check screen on the other thread, I'm still curious as to why I don't have the 1D3H thing. Any clue?

well, you know what assumption makes out of a person. i assumed you are referring to dash brake light. like i said - and i am away from my Camry for 3 more hrs - i can't check on the rear brake lights. i seriously doubt they should be coming up, but who knows.

no, i have no idea what that means in diagnostic menu. and there is no repair manual for TCHs yet. they do have one for Priusi though, and it might be the same for both. that's why i was not jumping with responses. many things in that menu are enigma.

The rear brake light does not come on with just the parking brake. Only the red "brake" light on the dash comes on. And of couse, while driving, it beeps as well.
