Shaving tch

I have just shaved my TCH. AKA debadged it.

tools needed:
1. dental floss, ample supply
2. strong hands
3. spray can with soapy water
4. rag

It's very simple indeed. Drive floss between metal and emblem and slowly see-saw floss underneath. 1st emblem took me 4 floss cuts, last one - only 2, iI figured that it's more of a pull, than sawing action. Then rub glue off, and spray with soapy water. Wipe off with a rag. move to another one.

I shaved mine as much as I could. I am looking into removing rear Toyota emblem too. Just need to find something to replace it with. Can not simply take it out, there will be holes in boot. I'll find or make something. I have plenty of carbon at work, that might be a choice.

Entire process took me only about 15 minutes.

Nice! I am doing the same thing this afternoon. Let me know what you come up with regarding removing rear emblem.

Doesn't hurt to heat up the glue a little with a hair dryer. Obviously don't concentrate any high heat in one area for long periods of time.

unfortunately, she does look much better shaved. slicker. just flowing.

to take the rear Toyota emblem is very easy, simply peel off boot insulation and unhook it. problem is - leaves holes. and there is no semi-carbon looking backing to give it at least some look.

best suggestion i have - remove emblems completely and fill recesses with bondo/paint over. that will make it totally slick.

you can still tell it's a hybrid by tail lights. but not many know.

no, glue let go nice and easy.

actually, you can take both emblems out and paint them whichever way you want to. matte black?

I shaved all 3 Hybrid badges off. I followed the tips in this thread. However, I would strongly recommend picking up a bottle of "Goo Gone" at Home Depot/Lowes. It was the best way to remove the sticky mess left after removing the emblems. Simply pour a generous amount of Goo Gone on a paper towel and rub vigorously on the glue. After removing the glue use windex and a paper towel to finish the cleanup process. Goo Gone is citrus peel oil and won't harm paint.

One last question... should I also remove the "Camry" emblem off the trunk? Any opinions?
