I have a 09 camry hybrid with everything except nav with 23000 miles on it, silver. In passing with the dealer said he would upgrade me to the same car 011 new for 4500-5000. He has not seen the car I told him it is cherry full servcice history no accidents with spoiler and weathertech mats. Sound like a good deal? I think that puts my trade in at about 24,500 to 25,000. Any worries because of the parts shortages, as he said they have a hard time getting the hybrids with the Tsunamai. will this maybe l cause unreliability down the road? Never know I guess?
No real financing incentives or what about dealer kickbacks now and future, when do the 012's come out? Thanks

You're getting about $21K(which is high for an '09) for your car because the $25K they offered you was off the sticker price if the sticker is around $30K.That $5K will probably go up a bit once you're in the dealership talking seriously.
I'd wait for the '12 and buy one about 8+ months after it's out awhile to get rid of the new generation bugs.Might get some incentives by then too.
The '12 hybrid will be available in OCT about a month after the gas Camry is available. No incentives with the '12's for awhile.Especially the hybrid.
I'm going to go with a leftover '12 or more likely loaded '13 Camry hybrid if I like it.
Reliability should actually be better considering all the recent problems. Also CEO Akio Toyoda said he will improve quality.

dealer offering you a good deal? at his loss?what, they running charities now?
if it's paid for drive her into the death until wheels fall off. that is the sacred mantra of saving money on cars. i know what a life without debt tastes like. SWEET.
Yes I e mailed the sales guy and asked if he checked with the finance guy to confrim his calculation which he told me he would. he replyed when can I come in and sign a purchase offer. i repeated did he get the confirmation from the finance guy on my e mail por the 4500-5000 and my car. He came back he did check and being pinned down he said really 6500-7500 with no apology. Again he asked when I could come by to sign the deal. I do not get upset at crap like this any longer but as you see I cut right to the chase. Never having bought a new car before and usually from private owners I see all the hullabuloo about the car business. I told him I would stop in tomorrow as i go past the dealer anyway and get a 11 dollar oil chage and car wash for free when I bring my own oil in. I checked and invoice s like 29,400 without nav with 760 destination otherwise loaded. so yes me coming up with just 4500-5000 was to good to be true. I thought the car industry had improved!

Back in the day, my dad would get a new car every three years, whether he actually needed one or not (and mostly not). Those days are gone as far as I'm concerned. We generally keep our cars for 10 years. My wife is driving an '00 Volvo S70 that we got in May '01 with about 12,500 miles on it. It's got 120K on the odometer now. It still runs great, and we don't owe anything on it. I'm looking at replacing it with a Camry Hybrid (our other car is an '07 RAV4), but we're in no hurry.
All that said, you've only had your TCH for a couple of years. How many miles do you have on it now and what's the rush? The dealer says he'll "upgrade" you to an '11 model. What does he mean? The same car with the same options but slightly newer and shinier? A TCH with NAV? If that's what you want, get a voice-activated Garmin GPS for $260, put it in your '09 TCH and keep driving it.

At 4500 bucks to jump up to a new 2012 car from an 09 same leather plus PKG minus nav would have been a steal for the new body style and technology. Too good to be true. Back ot the 09 with 23 k on it for a while.
Who can you trust now days, politicials, salesman, your employer batten down the hatch loking out for others interest is a way of the past.

First of all, 23,000 miles is nothing on a TCH or almost any well-maintained Toyota. Heck, at 23K and two years in, you're still under the factory warranty and you haven't even had to do any serious maintenance yet. Secondly, as you've noted, Toyota is reportedly redesigning the TCH for the 2012 model year. I've decided to wait and see what they come up with. They might be going to lighter, more compact lithium-ion batteries and larger trunks. But you ought to hang onto your car for another 50K miles at least in any case -- unless you enjoy giving your hard-earned cash to car dealers and banks. Just my humble opinion.

told you they can't a week ago. or was i too classic in my statement?
oh, and no, they will not go for Li-Ion battery. not that i know off, and i did fair research on this. so far, looks like 2012 will be only cosmetics. we have entire thread on this somewhere here. big corporations are TOO BIG to make QUICK changes.

go to green hybrid, i had several posted. it looks almost identical. just has some Cadillac looking fog lights. p-train is the same, battery is the same. more wood trim inside on high end options. simply go to google images and punch in 2012 toyota camry hybrid. surprisingly, there's very little info on it. so world is full of guesswork, as a result.
