2011 Camry Hybrid - loud grinding sound coming from engine (i think)

Bought a 2011 Camry Hybrid a few months ago and it is having issues. There seems to be a loud grinding sound coming from the engine any time I start the car and start moving after the car has been turned off and stationary for a few hours. I immediately turn the car off wait 30 seconds and the sound dissapears and I am able to drive normally.

It's been in the shop for almost 3 days and the techs there have no answers. Any ideas or suggestions?

I really like the car and love the gas mileage I am getting, so I would appreciate any helpful tips I can pass along to the service guys!

well, daah. can dealer reproduce the issue? if yes, then they either fix it or replace it. go to Customer Satisfaction manager, write to Toyota - but DO NOT TAKE CAR BACK unless it's fixed 100%.

I wonder if its some sort of corrosion forming- this happens to disk brakes sometimes.
But it seems like they would have figured that out in 3 days.

How long did you own the car before the noise started? Did you run over anything shortly before? Was any service done shorlty before?

Interesting just yesterday my 2011 Toyota Camry SE started making these really horrifying grinding noises and the car didnt want to move it was like jerking back and forth and it was crazy my first thought was the transmission then after i noticed the noise was from the brake pad my caliper is hitting the rotors so idk im sure you probably dont have the same problem but i gotta go to toyota because my hole caliper and the rotor is shot its kind of sad to see these kind of weird unexplainable problems on brand new cars gives me nightmares thinking about my warranty ending lol

Guys,

Sounds like the same issue a number of us have been experiencing before. Check this thread out and watch the video that one person has recorded of his problem:

morning "welcome shake"

Thanks.
