it's covered under 60 000 warranty. HOW MANY MILES? I had mine replaced at no cost at 57 000 miles. mine is 07.
of course it can be DYId. you up for it? e.g., there's no gasket, only special compound they use instead.
we use Greg's Japanese instead here, they are chain shops and cost significantly less.
Presumably you are talking engine water pump? It is just like any other front drive, transverse mounted car. There is not enough room to work, but somehow it is possible to get the job done.
If you don't have a tool to hold the pulley, leave the belt on and use whatever you have at hand (screwdriver etc) to break the pulley bolts loose. Permatex makes a good water pump/thermostat housing sealer, if you don't use the Toyota proprietary stuff. Finally, we also use an AirLift to fill the system up with coolant in order to avoid problems with cooling system airlock. Otherwise, you have to fill up the system to the extent possible, run the engine until it is hot, let it cool, fill it again, and potentially repeat 1-2 more times to get all the air out.
You can only get Super Long Life Coolant from a dealer parts counter, at least that is true in the US as far as I can tell.
pity. Prius had recall on HV water pumps. I went into regular Camry forum, pages of those pumps failing, not a sneeze from Toyota.
John, estimate on repair is around $350 non-dealer shop. If I were you... now, you in Canada, right? price might be different. shop around, buddy.
I have a 2007 Camry Hybrid. About 3 months ago I went in to my dealer to get my oil changed and find out where a "leak" is coming from. They come back to tell me my water pump is gone. They change it out. I go back in today to get my oil changed. They come to tell me I need a water pump. I almost come unglued!!! I told him I just had it replaced! He went back out to the garage to "recheck it", he come back to say it was ok. I have 139,000 miles on my car. I would love to know if they're is a water pump issue with the camrys and what is the warranty on the replacement. I have been having issues with headlight bulbs burning out. The past year I have probably went through a dozen bulbs, both high and low beam. The man at the auto parts store says it is because I touched thebulb with my bare hand. The folks at the Toyota shop says it is because I didn't get Toyota bulbs. Any opinions???
When I took my 2008 TCH in for inspection, the Meadowvale Toyota dealership in Mississauga ON Canada told me that I had a coolant pump leak that could become worse.
To check, I topped up the coolant reservoir and found that the level is not changing. This indicates that the dealership was lying through their teeth.
You would be lucky if you can get a honest Toyota dealer. I have found it better to find a decent local mechanic who would at least prove to you if something is wrong.

rest at peace. you have no warranty left on your car.
yes, you are not supposed to touch halogen bulbs with bear skin. yes, dealership is very likely right too, this computer on four wheels wants stuff its way or freeway. also, very likely, you have short somewhere, causing bulbs to overload and burn.
just to make you feel better, my Silverado toasts headlight bulbs every 6-8 mths. I am used to it.

Since the pump is outside the engine (compared to earlier Camrys with pump integrated into timing belt system), this seems to be a good DIY project for a fairly handy person. It would likely not exceed a day's work. That would cut the cost at least half.
