open glove compartment lid. squeeze it on both sides, or pull the front of it down, while holding back part of it with one hand. goal is to undo side clips, that prevent glove compartment from coming all the way down. or, you can simply do it one at a time by hand.
when this is accomplished, you will see cabin filter compartment in the dashboard, in the upper part of what is glove compartment recess in the dashboard. it's straight forward from now on, remove filter cover, replace filter. Buy OEM filter, stuff they sell in parts stores is junk.
Buy From a Toyota dealer. 2 types are available. One has charcoal to help filter orders. I buy from online Toytota dealers that offer 25% off. I also get 20% off locally just for asking parts manager. But I have bought many parts for many different Toyotas as my family drives mostly Toyotas.

I did it without taking the glove compartment off. With the compartment open, I could reach in to the filter cover and could easily slide the old filter out and put the new one in.

Would you mind listing some of these dealers that give discounts?

I found a supplier on eBay OEM charcoal. Less than $10 I think.

I cannot get both glove box stops to squeeze enough to be able to get the glove box to drop down. I can see where the filter goes and tried to push the tabs on the filter cover / door they move intowars the center but dorr won't come off? Anyone?

Just do a google search for discount Toyota OEM parts . I buy from Sierra Vista Toyota in Sierra Vista AZ. I believe there is a guy that posts here that is a Toyota parts dealer. You may want to call the dealer directly on your first purchase because My online Honda dealer quit offering discounts so I did another search for discount Honda oem parts in order to find another dealer.

[QUOTE=arabianobsession;3677542]You're going to have to push them together really hard. I just checked mine last night and I forgot how difficult it was.
Push which, the filter door, or the glove box pegs?

For the filter door, just push the tabs together. That's easier than the glove box, IMO. You may have two tabs or you may have one (on the right side).

Actually I mean't both. If I cannot get the glove box to release, then I can push the filter door tabs, but it doesn't come open. There is not enough room to pull and push the tabs with the glove box not dropping down.
