so it does not have a 195Hp electrical motor then, as was reported before. Only 200 Hp total.
My figures may not be perfectly accurate, but this is the way I see it.
The 2011 Camry hybrid shows to be 187 hp. That's 147 hp from the ice and 40 hp from the traction motor.
The 2012 Camry hybrid shows to be 200 hp. That's 156 hp from the ice and 44 hp from the traction motor.
That took some really good engineering to up the 2012 hybrid ice by 9 hp, and adding 4 hp to the traction motor. Still the new combo, including improved aerodynamics and a slightly lighter car body is now up to 43 city, 39 highway or 41 combined mpg. That's 13 more hp, plus 9 more mpg than last years model.
yeah, that's what wishful thinking is. someone else said here - until we have real life mpg numbers from reliable sources, it's just air castles. I can place bet right now, numbers will not be that good.
whooping NINE HORSES improvement? oh my... being sarcastic. like you gonna tell the difference. I can stick - and do have - high air flow filter in and have same.
what really matters, is 250 kg less weight. THAT does matter. and bigger trunk. otherwise, it's minute changes and same design. GIVE ME BREAKTHROUGH!
I thought I read somewhere that the new TCH is rebuilt from the ground up other than the basic hybrid system.
Like you said, it's not that much improvement over our present TCH models. About the real life mpg numbers. The 2010 and 2011 models EPA gov site shows 33 combined, in which only a few get those numbers. Most I have read in the forms are getting closer to the 40 mpg mark.
Like any new car model that's been redone, it's always a little better here and their with added features. That's the only way to get the public to buy the automotive manufactures newest product.

What's not to love about the 2012 hybrid? Higher mpg, bigger trunk, less expensive and a much classier interior. Sounds like a winner to me - I'm buying one and cannot wait to get it!

I'm more interested in the XLE, only if can get a decent trade on my low miles 2007 TCH. The new sales mgr did tell me over the phone, they use nada.com/ and kelly blue book (www.kbb.com/)for appraisals. At least this gives me a base on my trade to work with.

I love our new 2012 TCH XLE we got on 1/3/12. I am learning how to drive it to get better FE. I admit to putting about 40psi in tires and putting it into EV in parking lots and stop & go traffic. With about 1700 miles on odometer, I am getting about 46.5 mpg on the current tank. My goal for reasonable length trips is about 50mpg now. The initial few miles after a cold start are not very economical but, if I can go more than 10 miles, I can usually get pretty good FE.

Henry, I just got my TCH XLE last Sunday and can say that it is a great car and very comfortable, put over 600 miles on it already. I am not getting getting anywhere near the mpg you are, but my weather is cold here right now and I get lousy mpg the first few miles before it warms up. I assume that the ev mode does not work until the engine warms up. Anyhow I am looking forward to seeing the MPG improve once the weather warms and once I figure out the best cruising speed and hypermiling techniques.
This is a very flimsy comparison. Really only lists equipment differences which you could get from the Toyota website.
What I would like to know: Has anyone noticed any driving differences between the XLE and LE (since they have different tires and fuel economy)?
