Trunk stuck shut

I have an issue where my trunk will not open on my 2007 Camry hybrid. You can hear the latch activate by the outside handle or the cable lever alongside the drivers seat but the trunk will not budge. I did get the rear seats down but the access hole is way too small to get through (because of the batteries). Even DCH Toyota doesn't know what to do. There must be a solution / procedure. Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks for any help

Does your car have the handle where you can open it from the inside (if you were stuck in the trunk)? If so can you get something with a hook shape to grab it and pull on it to open? Not sure if this will work or not, but on one of my cars there was a manual bypass switch that was on the trunk latch and you could just move that and it would open, if you can't reach it you could stick a 2' stick of some sort in there and move it, it is very easy to move. Good luck.

Is the lock cylinder in the trunk straight up as opposed to a left/right orientation. My daughter turned her key sideways on her 2004 Corolla which put the trunk on valiet mode. If this works the same on your car you need a master key to unlock the trunk leaving the tumbler in a north/south orientation. On valiet mode the trunk will not open pulling the release inside.

can you open it with fob?

personally, I'd have activated it with fob or handle, and give it a fair smack on the trunk cover, right above the handle. maybe couple of smacks. you could have, simply, caught something between lock and latch. clothes are notorious about it.
