Camry HybridDiscussion area for the Toyota Camry Hybrid. Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving Americas favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
I'm a member of an insurance organization that allows one to research new car prices much like members of AAA and I received a target price of the Camry XLE at $30,433 and a local Toyota dealer said he'd match the price plus registration fees of $199.00. The Camry will have Lther pkg, Conv pkg (CQ), Nav (6") and mats. The dealer has an advertisement that says buy a new Toyota and two Hondas, a Honda mower and a Honda generator.
I asked the dealer if I would receive the "two Hondas" and he said no, that is at full price. So I'm thinking, the advertisement doesn't say anything about price, only purchase a new Toyota. Now, I'm not a trouble maker nor would I push for the two Hondas but if the advertisement says such, I should get such. I'm thinking of going to the dealer to look at the car and make my purchase conditional on the receipt of said two Hondas. Am I being too greedy? Is the price of the Camry XLE Hybrid realistic as compared t what others have paid-plus it's at the end of the model year.
I'd say you are either greedy or a man of principle that will fight a lost cause. Like Don Quixote.
Besides this one: http://seattle.craigslist.org/see/ctd/3431166312.html
there are none of them at the price you describe, but it's not leather.
Then again, I am aware of a gal, that had new carpet installed, and then had it all ripped out, tossed, and replaced - for free - with a different kind, as she "was irritated by tracks, left by her cat in the soft carpet". My inlaw did both installs, and got paid for both, and store ate crap on it.
Reason I mentioned this - if you have nerves of steel and good comm skill, you can likely torture them into giving you those Hondas. I'd take gen, personally.

Yes, but they say both a lawnmower and a generator. So I don't ahve a choice, I'm supposed to get both. Neat if I can swing it and if the dealer can afford to "give" them away on buying a new Toyota.
My dealer offered a $100 to my friend in a bring/refer a friend promotion and I had to call 4 times before I got someone in accouting to really cut a check for him.
Hold fast and make them own up. Expose them to a TV on your side story or something like that if they persist to evade their promotion.
This is disgusting. I hate tactics like this....maybe ask to talk to the real OWNER of the dealership.

Yup, that's the one. And I'm talking to the new car manager but there is usually someone there that i s a bit higher up than him. and, the ad makes no mention of restrictions except the Corolla AND other promotions like 0% interest which I'd want for 36 months. So he could refer to the small print....plus push that he is agreeing to my quote of the cost of the vehicle.

Former USAF: Drive the best deal you can get for the Camry of your choice. Then demand the generator and mower. Be careful not to sign anything that waives your rights to claim the generator and mower ... it's probably buried somewhere in one of the pieces of paper they shove at you so quickly when you buy a car. If you don't get the generator and mower, it's worth $35 (+/-) to sue Hudiburg in small claims court. It will cost them more to hire counsel to defend the claim than it's worth. I think you have a good case.
Please note under the OcConner's advertisement it says does not apply to Corolla L's, must be a vehicle in stock and not in conjunction with any other sales promotion.
I was planning on buying the car with several thousand down and financing it with Toyota at 0% interest and pay the darn car off in twelve months but if they are going to be real restrictive, I'll finance it with my credit union and forego the 0% and any other gimmick they might offer like 36 month oil change and take the generator and mower. I don't need either but now it is the principle at this point.
And they are not knocking that much off the car for me to buy anyway if they get upset, there are several other several other Toyota dealers in town that'll probably give me a better price.
1. I have a hunch that if push came to shove, Hudiburg would say that any discount off MSRP counts as "another sales promotion." Not a shining example of car dealer ethics, but it would probably hold up in court.
2. The configuration you're looking at has a national MSRP of $32,340. (It may be higher in OK due to the weird distribution setup; I see a similarly equipped car on Hudiburg's website at $32,799.) For such a car, a large Toyota dealer in the Boston area shows guaranteed prices of $29,065 (via SpeedBilly) and $29,578 (via TrueCar). I'm willing to bet that if one dealer is willing to show those prices publicly (I didn't have to enter any personal info to see them), there's at least one store in any market that will go lower in a one-time private deal. The $29,065 price is $1,000 below invoice; I'll bet you can do at least $1,000 better than that.
With that kind of savings, you could buy the mower and generator outright and still have money left over. If you decide to fight it out with Hudiburg, more power to you, but I think they'll manage to weasel out of it. If it were me, I'd shop around a little.

I think you should focus on getting the best car you can for the least amount. Rather than getting that stuff for free, I'd get more options in the car, for less. You don't even need that stuff. Don't let stuff get in the way of getting the best price or the best set of options. You are there to buy a car, not to get stuff.
Here's where I am at, Hudiburg offered me a XLE Hybrid with Conv pkg (CQ), leather (LA), Nav (EX) mats (CF) and the mower for $30,544. Fowler offered me the same car for $30,355 and I wanted a tint and they indicate at this point that I can pay their cost at $199.00.
If I take Hudiburg's offer, I have to still get the windows tinted and I don't need the mower. If I take Fowler's offer, it's the same car, basically the same deal a couple dollars more adding the tint.
The previous poster hit the nail on the head, concentrate on the car, not the junk.
I'll present Fowler's offer to Hudiburg and se what happens. USAA has a cost point of $30.091.
Should Hudiburg offer the same deal, I'd take it-they are closer to my house and do well on Toyota maintenance as does Fowler.
I picked up the XLE for $30,500 and they threw in the mower and tinted windows. Said I'd take the car w/o the mower and they said they'd knock off $200.00 and I figured, I can't buy a mower like that for $200 so I told them to throw it in. They offered me $10,000 for the 07 Prius with 52,000 miles and I told them I'd keep it and sell it myself. So I paid $5,000 down and got 0% interest with Toyota Corp.
Not too bad of a deal, the wife loves the Camry XLE but is complaining of the entune and Nav-we'll have to work on that jsut as we did the Prius. Thanks for bearing with me guys!!!
