Locked Out

My 2012 hybrid locked me out again and wouldn't let me in.
No matter what I tried I couldn't get in.

Window was down so I reached in and unlocked the door manually and it sets off the alarm.

Sheesh this is the second time.

Might want to replace the battery in the fob to see if that is the problem.

Re: Locked Out

Ah. Troubleshooting intermittent electrical issues is a crapshoot. Even your dealer may not find the problem unless it acts up when the car is being looked at. Good luck

Locked Out

Is it locking itself, or just won't unlock for you? We had a 2004 Sienna that used to randomly lock the doors. Inconvenient when you're pumping gas, the keys are in the ignition, and suddenly the doors lock. Sometimes it would lock the doors while the back hatch was even open (nothing like climbing over the back seats to get to the switch).

But if it's a case of just not unlocking, is it happening in the same area? We had a '98 RAV4 that frequently would not unlock in one shopping center. I always figured there was some sort of electrical interference there that messed with the wireless signals.

Where is your second SmartKey when this happens? Our 2012 started acting very odd when my wife decided to put her purse containing the second SmartKey in the trunk.

LOL! Last weekend I tried to lock the car but it kept beeping. It was then that my wife fessed up that she had left just placed HER key in a bag in the trunk as we were going to be going for a long walk along Monterey Bay.

Well funny enough, mine started locking itself. I park her in garage at home, and never lock the doors. 2nd time today - went back to her, and she's locked.

Did you accidentally hit the unlock button? Toyota's relock themselves 30 seconds after hitting an unlock button if you don't open a door.

In case it locks you out and the windows are closed. Take you key-fob out and press the key release button on the side of the fob. The key should easily slide out. Use it on the drivers side door to unlock it.

As another said, you may need a new fob battery. Your toyota dealer may stock them. I have heard Radio Shack may carry them. I had to open my fob case using the hidden key in the recessed slot to get to the battery number.

Hope you find the problem soon.

I think I have found the problem. Wife was inside and locked it from inside and it wouldn't unlock for me on the outside

I bought batteries online from Amazon. Panasonic batteries are great!
