Your subject line read "Where is the OEM AMP?"

The OEM amp is directly under the front right storage/glove box, accessible from underneath, where you could kick it with your feet if you were sitting in the right front passenger seat.

My OEM amp fried a few months ago with a wicked smell as you described. It is expensive to replace, so I didn't. I removed the amp and bypassed it by plugging the radio connector into the speaker connector, both of which I had simply unplugged from the back of the amp. The sound is good with my aftermarket radio/CD/MP3 player that has a built-in amp.
