my O2 sensor has gone bad and i was wondering about your opinions...what's a good O2 sensor for a decent price? i checked out Kragen and they sell universal ones for about $90. they also sell both OEMs that run for $180 and $230, cuz mine's a gen4 (has two O2 sensors).
get the universals and splice them into your wires...should work fine

Just picked up a Denso OEM O2 sensor for my gen 3 from Sparkplugs.com for $78. Hopefully my crappy gas mileage will go up. (It has to!)
Looks like for your gen 4 the front one will be $96.80 and the rear will be $95.66...Thats for the OEM ones. If you want to go the universal route they'll be around $45.

I was going to go universal, but after looking at the rear sensor, I decided that's more work than it's worth. Even so...autozone wants $110 a piece for the OEM type...
dunno, whichever brand is cheaper? they all work the same. If push comes to shove and you have to get something becasue it's sensless to pay the extra dough....splicing time

since there's one on my catalytic converter (which is bad now), do i have to replace my catalytic converter with an O2 bung on it? or can i get a catalytic converter without the bung? cuz right now the busted O2 on it isn't connected to anything else; i had the wires cut and sealed with electrical tape...i wonder if this triggered the O2 sensor to fail.

Hey foxprime, i remember you were in the gb for the rippmods header. I'm running a check engine light too. The 02 sensor that went bad for me was the one after the cat. I'm wondering if it is because our header.
oh you got the same problem? yea i remember you too.
i heard that cats go bad when a O2 sensor goes bad (like in my case). i'm about to buy another universal cat for less than $100 for sure (inlet/outlet 2.25", 9 inches long...i got this info from RippMods a few days ago). (http://www.car-sound.com/catalog/universal/910.aspx)
i also plan to get an O2 sensor or two from Sparkplugs.com...they run about $55 each (shipping included). i'm sure our headers are fine, it's just the darn O2 sensors that messes things up.
i got the check engine light too. what are you planning to do?
