99 Camry Engine problems

Hey guys, I'm new here, but i was wondering if anyone could help me out. My camry has had engine problems in the past and I ended up getting a used engine and replacing my current one. The used engine already had some problems, and I was unsure if it would last. Well I had the exact same problem occur again, and I'd like to get the original engine re-built. Does anyone know where I can get this done cheaply around the Michigan area? Any help would be greatly appreciated, as I need this car to get to work.

Define cheap! Sometimes you get what you pay for! What happen to the engine and what year and engine do you have? What part of Michigan?

1999 4-cylinder engine

Well, both times that the problem has occured I was driving home. Basically the car started making some horrid grinding noises whenever I gave it any gas. When I stopped and went to check if perhaps my muffler was dragging on the ground I only found a leak. I'm guessing the leak was oil, becuase now I can't even start the car, all it does is make a loud grinding noise. I live in Farmington Hills,MI and I was wondering if anyone knew of any repair shops that had good reputations and affordable prices. Basically give me whatever you got . Thanks for the speedy reply.

Sounds like a detonation issue to me. My car does the same thing, and as far as I know, there's nothing you can really do about it. Are you having any other problems? Try running premium gas in it.

Is it an automatic or manual? Were you low on oil? How much if any? Is the starter turning the motor over or is the starter just grinding. Maybe someone from the Detroit area knows of a good shop down there.

I find it hard that you have went thru 2 motors!

Well it's not grinding per se, but it's sort of a loud clicking/rattling noise...kinda hard to describe, but mine only does it when I accelerate too, so it could be the same thing. Or else maybe my motor has another problem?
