Awhile back, I read (of all the places, on Maxima.org) that stock oil filter has changed from 90915-YZZA2 to 90915-YZZF2 on the 5S-FE (4-cyl) engine.
I went to the dealer to pick one up and sure enough, it did change.

yeah my mechanic told me that 5months ago. toyota trying to cut down on cost, so they made it in Thailand. I was using Toyota Oil Filter for the last year or so, but since its made in Thailand ive started using something else.
regarding with the size the one "MADE IN THAILAND" Should be bigger than the "MADE IN USA" hold on......isnt theres one thats "MADE IN JAPAN" ???

You almost describe a Denso filter. It is made in Thailand. The box has English and French. The instructions on the can are only pictorial. The gasket is pre-greased and has plastic over it. The gasket has a round mating surface with the engine. Most filters have flat mating surface. Filter has 8 holes around the bottom and a visibile red-orange rubber/silicone thing behind it.
Here are some pics of old and new. I changed oil on Sat. morning. Old filter looks like better quality. New filter IS made by DENSO. Hope these work(sorry about the flash):
Looks slightly different from Denso First Time Fit filter. Denso filter is all blue but there is a sticker with everything on. There is only blue paint unlike the Toyota filter. The vavle inside Denso filter is red-orange, not black.
yeah this is what i thought too i picked up 5 filters last months and it wasn't as big and didn't have japanese writing on it. oh wells, beats fram and only cost 50cents more

Quantum mechanics - the dreams that stuff is made of.
All,
Been using these, they are BIG compared to the OEM stuff 1 Quart (95 V6).
I can't bring myself to follow the manufactures recomended interval of 75,000 miles or what ever it said on normal driving. Every 3,000 it gets new oil and filter....
