Question Toyota Camry Keyless Entry Remotes & Programming Instructions

What does your local dealer charge for Toyota keyless entry remotes?

My Toyota dealer wants $119 a piece plus $35 for programming for each of my cars (97 Camry (factory), 96 4Runner (VIP).

I'm curious to see what other dealerships are charging for new remotes and programming.

I'm done with ebay because the listings show new remotes, and 3 out of 3 times I've won - I end up with junk that doesn't work and won't program. First one was superglued together and cracked. Can't check the battery if you can't even open it. Second one was completely corroded inside from water and didn't work. The 3rd one only 1 button worked and it looked like someone tried to superglue the circuit board pieces back together. Each one was advertised as new, or like new and they obviously weren't anywhere close to that. The Keyles Ride site is run by one of those same lying ebay sellers, so thats off the list too.

What does your local dealership charge? I bet there's some that want even more than what mine is charging.

I would like to know what you find out as well. I just purchased a 97 Camry and the previous owner couldn't find her remotes. I found literature in the owners manaual that the Car could have been equiped with the VIP system but I need to get the dealer to confirm this.

I have seen the remotes listed on e bay but have heard horror stories similar to your about getting ripped off and not being able to program the remote.

I have bought 2 remotes advertised as new off of Ebay and every time they work out great. Whenever you buy something like that you need to read the buyers feedback. Go a few weeks back into sells and see how often he gets a negative and what for. So far I have had my 2 remotes for over a year and they work great. I used 12volt.com to find out how to program them. Btw I have the factory keyless entry

I feel you man. Here's some instruction on how to do things. http://www.toyotanation.com/forum/t96974.html

Dealer is alrite if you know someone in there that is willing to work with you. One particular manager super ripped me off for the remote and told me that programming is not included in the price quote. I argued and finally met an old man that is working there to accept the return. The manager at the dealership totally screwed me on the remote. That's why I posted the DIY to not allow dealer to rape their customers. I hate that manager!!!!!

Make sure that when buying remote, you need to find out what type of remote you need. Locate the ECU unit and then follow the instructions provided. I bet you'll be a happy camry owner! If you need help, you can always pm me.

I found another site online that I'm willing to give a shot - www.ThePartsYouNeed.com

The KR site doesn't even work to check price anymore. It keeps pulling up an error page on step 3/3. They're less than 1/3rd dealer price on thepartsyouneed site with the instructions included. I ordered 1 this morning.

https://www.thepartsyouneed.com/disp...productId=1284

I'll keep you guys posted. If it works good, I'm going to order one for my 4Runner as well.

Post .

Wow. The Keyles Ride site is working again. They want $120 for one of the remotes for the 97 Camry.

I got my remote from ThePartsYouNeed.com in the mail Friday.

Programming was easy, took about 30 seconds. I can't believe a dealership would charge 1/2 hour of labor for a 30 second job. Thats a good way to lose customers.

Anyhow, the remote works great and when I went to put in an order for remote for the 4Runner I noticed I got free shipping, so I bought a 2nd remote for the Camry and a pair for the 4Runner. FINALLY I will have remotes that work and that I can use.

ThePartsYouNeed.com rocks!

That's the reason why I compiled the programming sequence for everyone in TN. Dealership overcharge their customer for remote programming. I got to agree with you that for a 30 sec job, it is not worth to pay 1/2 hour labor to the dealership.

From what I have seen of the 4Runner instructions, that should be even easier to program. I'll post an update when they get here.

Still trying to get my FOBS program and am having trouble. Car didnt come with any keyless entry FOB, but got the correct ones from ebay. Standard programing of the RS3200 goes into programing mode but when I try the pressing both keys simutaniously nothing happens. It is a factory remote btw. Anyone got any suggestions? Dealer wants $95 to program. No way in my book! Car is a Celica GT 2001
