4th Generation Under dash neon light install help

I got some cold cathode lights for my birthday for the car. I'm wanting to do something different. I eventually do the boot light thing, but for now I want to put them under the dash so the footwells glow blue when the door opens (or when the interior light is on).

I decided to have a crack at it just then. It took me 15 minutes to find where the fuze was that I blew (why put the interior dome fuse in the engine bay??? ). I had to replace my 7.5amp fuse with a 10 because thats all I have.

Anyway. Any hints on how to do it. I want to connect it to the dome wiring loop. Do I need to use a different strength fuse? Where are the cables I should tap into?

First things first
go pull the 10amp fuse
never NEVER put in a higher rated fuse then it was
how did you go about tapping into the system?
this is slightly more complicated then just splicing in.

I haven't spliced anything yet. I tried the neons by taking the globe out of the dome light and holding the contacts together. Everything worked fine.

I tried to find the corresponding plug in the interior fuse box and hooked up the lights by once again, holding the contacts together. It worked okay for a few seconds then stopped. I hooked it to the "door" connection in the fuse box.

Without the fuse in the engine bay I can't remotely lock my car.
