just a quickie on oil filters...

05 camry se v6.

super-tech (champion) had two different sizes of 3614 filter for v6 camry, a long one like stock, and now a shorter one with a plastic cage holding the filter media in place. they advertise a 99 percent multi-pass efficiency.

purolator has the longer filter with metal guts holding in the filter media but they only advertise a 96 percent multi-pass efficiency.

would anyone have any reason to not use either of these filters? i've got purolator on now after using longer super-tech for 1st oil change.

Pultor generally makes good stuff. Super-tech (wal-mart brand right?) use to be Purolator, but I don't know much about Champion. I personally use OEM filters and have 0 problems on our cars with a combined total of 1.5 million miles.

Champion makes many filters, including Mobil 1 filters. It's just different levels of performance and cost.

Look around on this web and you should be able to find out some more information: http://theoildrop.server101.com/cgi/ultimatebb.cgi
