Alright...so recently my parking brake light has been randomly comming on. Like whenever I make a left turn or have the weight of the car shifted to the left side it come on. Now more and more it has been stuck on. Like the brake is all the way down and I've tried playing with it but nothing seems to work. I think it might be a messed up sensor.
I was wondering if you have ever heard of this before. I haven't gotten my brakes checked in the 40,000 miles that I've owned the car so I think I should bring it in soon and maybe have it checked out. Any ideas?
TIA

Well you can check the brake fluid since the sensor in teh master cylinder is probably the culprit for the light coming on. However Brake fluid doesnt jsut disappear. The most likely reason you are getting the light coming on is due to the fact the pads are worn and there is more fluid being used to fill the calipers sincethey have been lushed out farther. If you jsut want the light to go off top off your brake fluid. if you want to make sure you dont need brakes also have them checked or check them yourself.

You are ABSOLUTELY CORRECT. I found this out the hard way....
My brake light came on and I filled it with fluid. A short time later I replaced the pads....and guess what.....the extra fluid that I put it ended up being too much for the new pads and it some fluid came back out the top.
PARKING break light is diff than a break light if its anything like my '93. Parking break, as always, is cable operated....not brake fluid dependent....i had a similar problem with my car, it wouldnt go off, then sumtimes it would...turns out i just had to slightly tighten the parking break cable via middle console
no, there are some camrys (mine included) where the parking brake light and the check brake light are the same thing (which I also just found out) because I'm also having the same issue as this guy.

Definately a learning experience.
Yes and brake fluid can be very corrosive to paint. SO if you have this happne you will want to try and clean as much of the spilled brake fluid off as possible.

For the record, I've also had this problem.

hm... checked - yellowish fluid - the reservoir is almost full.
some ppl here advised to look into 'master cylinder' - and apparently it should take no longer than 30 seconds - where is this one?
thx again
