Radio

I've got a problem with the radio on my 2000 Camry. Last week I took the old girl in to be detailed. Since then no sound has come out of the speakers. The radio appears to work - it turns on, tunes, adjusts settings, plays CDs, and the like. But no sound comes out of any of the speakers. Any suggestions on what it could be and where I should look for solutions? I'm guessing that it will require looking at the back of the radio, which near as I can see will entail taking the whole dashboard apart.

Thanks,
-Todd

Is your camry a XLE? If so there may be a fuse blown in the fusebox..try checking that.

Check all the fuses first. Get a 12v test light and turn the ignition to the on position. Ground the test tight to a bolt ont he car then touch each side of the fuses. You should have power on both sides of the fuses. If you find one that doesnt have power on both sides pull the fuse an dmake sure it is not physically blown. IF it is replace it then try the radio. Is there anything else that is not working in the car. Like dome lights or clock or anything like that. IN the 94 camry's there are at least two different fuses that control the audio system.

just to add to what they're saying....this is under the presumtion that you have an external amp, otherwise, there is only one fuse for the headunit tha powers everything

This is the low-end model, the CE. We did indeed check the fuses and they're all fine. There's just one fuse for the radio and when it's pulled the entire radio stops working. Everything else on the car is working just fine - the only issue is no sound out of the radio.
