For those of you who have upgraded from stock steelies to larger rim sizes, I want to take a poll to see how much you think your ride has changed. I'm particularly interested in those you you with 17" rims. If you'd like to leave a comment please tell us your car, upgraded size, suspension mods that have been made, and just any of your thoughs on this topic Thanks everyone .
Zac
ADDENDUM: When comparing ride harshness I'm actually asking you to consider the ride comfort of your car before and after changing rims. Thanks.

ive lowered my car, and it handes much better but downside of lowering a car is you'll lose the comfyness of the ride. but doesnt bothered me
i like it, looks better and handle better.
before i got the 15" steelwheels with hubcaps, now im on 16" Toyota Rims. cant feel any different but looks so much better now. last year i had the 17" TSW wheels it handles so good
I used to have 14" steel with hubcape, the ride was really smooth but the handle is ugly... I always get understeer everytime I turn fast and I don't like it. Now I'm having 16" alloy, I gotta admit I like the look alot, the ride was no so smooth as before but I could feel the road and the turning is supperb is compare to my previous one. I never regrete on changing to bigger size and I also happy that I don't change to 17 or bigger (no offense dude... just read more)... I like it a lot at first but I gotta think about road condition in my country... should get a rally car rather than a sport car..
You should have your rims changed if you think your car is not an investment.
Peace!

define 'harsher'..........harsher as in more bumpy? of course it probably will be in the 17+ range but with that larger wheel size comes a wider wheel size which provides better handling and in cases better traction so its a bettter ride in that aspect
if you had performance tyres in the stock dimaeter you wont notice much difference as you already started with a super stiff sidewall on your older tyres.

I have 17" rims and I love the way they felt, which was waaay better than stock. I got my H&R springs now so I will put those in this weekend and let you know how they work out.
WAY BETTER except for the bloody great pot holes
here in Briz which go BAM when ya hit them...

Its all in the tires, bro. If you spend a little extra on good tires, you can get a better than stock ride. I've got 17" IS300 rims, and I got good performance tires, and it rides sooo much better than my stock steelies with Goodyear Integrity's.

Glaring blue HID bulbs are NOT classy, and don't make your car look nice, no matter what that kid in the Civic told you.
Ha ha ha this is funny, so far more people voted that their ride got better. I was expecting the oppostie. But maybe what you say is true, it's all in the tires. Oh and yes when I say harsh I'm talking about ride comfort (how bumpy etc). Thanks for all your comments so far...keep em coming.
I put 17" with 215/45-17s on my mothers car, and when we put the stock tires (14") back on for winter driving, she complains of the car wallowing all over the road.
She is 65.
She hates the car not having the 17s on it! It drives and feels like a better car!
in all honest when i went from 15's to 17's, didn't notice any ride difference! currently i'm on 16's (due to the fact that 17s tires cost BUNCH MORE). Even on simple lowering, there ain't too much difference on ride quality, maybe when entering/exiting drivways and going over parking-ramps..but on the whole, its comprable to stock!
Sigh, opinion on this runs the gamut I guess. I just don't want my passengers to have a bad ride when I'm being a chauffeur....that and I don't want the rim to freaking break on me on the first pot hole it hits lol.
