Just replace it! Normally moisture will only effect a distributor if you have carbon tracks starting in it. Also check your spark plug wires.

Does any one know why this happens when it rains and the car has been sitting over night? It just doesn't wanna turn over, and when it does, it idles rough until it warms up, i'm guessing until something dries.

just change the cap, rotor and wires. you shouldnt need to replace the whole distributor. its happening becuase the cap or wires are cracked/broken and moisture is getting in there and the spark is either jumping to the wrong wire or grounding off a wire to the engine somewhere. try spritzing the wires with water when its running...if you see sparks or it starts acting rough again replace the wires.

Also check the coil. IE: measure the primary and secondary resistance.

Sometimes the coil will go bad or crack and cause problems.

check the battery if it starts hard, check the wires if it runs rough (especially if it misses) and the coils tend to go bad on these things.

p.s. check my battery thread in the gen1/2 cammy section
