Ive asked this same exact question before. Search for it cause im too lazy to find it myself.

But yes both the Scion tC and the Camry I4 Engines are the same. They are both 2AZ-FE engines but you can just buy parts for a TC and throw them on a Camry i.e. Turbocharger, supercharger, headers....etc..

The computers are different and the Headers are also different on the TC engine. Also I belive that they also have different intake manifolds.

So I have come to the conclusion that its the same thing but they are not interchangeble with ease like you think it would.

Ease is what you make of it.

But seriously, Brian is right. The engines are the same, yes, but parts aren't quite interchangeable. You had to mod your Camry's engine slightly in order to fit TC parts in. As far as Brian's mention of headers, I'm sure if you went for the JP headers for the 2AZ, you'd be fine with any other mods (like turbo or s/c). As for the intake manifold, I'm pretty sure that they're the same. But yes, the crankshaft is different on the TC, so you'd have to change that as well. Also, I think some of the fluid reservoirs are in slightly different positions in the TC than in the Camry, so you'd have to change that as well.
