best winter tires?

For those live in snowy winter places (especially in Toronto), do you guys switch to winter tires during the winter time? which brand of winter tires do you use? Do you also change the wheel to the steelie at the same time or merely change the tires only? what would u guys recommend?
thanks!!

From a co$t perspective, I'd say go with Crappy Tire rubber. I'm running on Blizzaks right now, but truthfully, if I had to do it again, I'd get a "generic" brand.

Out of all the brands mentioned above, I'd pick Nokians (studless version ). The Sweds know what snow and ice realy means  My dad has been running on Nokians for the past cpl of years and they seem to work very well. Blizzaks only have 50% winter tread and Alpines are wayyy too expensive.

PS- don't forget to get narrower tires with winter rubber and -1 size your steel rims to save some money.
