I'm trying to locate a part for my sisters camry online she needs the passenger side mirror (Power) Ive looked at a few websites and its's asking me weather it was built in the USA or Japan?? She hasnt been able to locate the tag under the hood to find me that so is there some way to tell by the vin where the car was built?
I had some drunk asshole in a club parkinglot use my driver side mirror to catch himself, dident work. When I replaced mine I was never asked for japan or domestic made. Just go up to a local slavage yard, they have catalogs to order brand new shit for cheap(in box not off a junker car). I paid I think 40$ for a new one. Although it was originally electric I just said fuck it and went with non-electric.

The first digit of all vin# is always the country of origin except if it was built in North America
then the first digit will be a number indicating the region. J is for Japan...K for Korea etc...
The second digit is the manufacturer..T is for Toyota,,H ofr Honda etc...
exactly, the mirror wasent built any differently in the US than it was in japan, thats what I was sayin it shouldent matter
