i first noticed that my rear tailight went out when the light came on on my control panel. then it went off. now it comes on and off so it isnt the bulb and i tried moving the wires around going to the bulb and that didnt do anything so i just wanted to kno what to look for first and where to look?

DId you actually replace the bulbs or are you just assuming they are ok. They will sometimes through the light in the dash when they are about to burn out also.

Sometimes the filament in the bulb is actually broken but still makes contact periodically, giving you the symptoms you describe. I have seen this many times. Change the bulb; they are cheap enough. If you want to varify the fact it is the bulb before you buy one, switch the bulbs in the rear tail lights with each other. If the problem moves to the other tail light, you have varified the fact that it is the bulb that is defective.
