Probably not going to work unless you do some major work. Isnt most of that stuff computer controlled. If so you will need the ECU wiring harness and all. IT would end up being jsut like an engine swap for the most part. Then you also have to have an engine block tht will accept the vvt-i head> so if the engine in your car has never had the option of vvt-i then it will make it even harde.

I am in no way an expert on vvt-i since it was just starting to be used a little bit when I left Toyota. But I would think this would be the case.

engine swap (and everything else required) for the same engine with vvti would be cheaper and easier

Dumb Question: But what exactly does VVT-I do for the engine. What is the difference between a Toyota engine and a Toyota VVT-I?

VVT-I gives low end tourqe and gives more hp at high rpm
usualy you have to choose between those 2
like having to choose between a 3S-FE (low end tourqe)
and a 3S-GE (high horsepower) VVT-I gives you both

yeah its a nice feature to have if you already got it, if not...motor swap i guess but would it really be worth it? how much estimated hp/torque would you gain?

JLcamrydave-uh use the PM feature if you wanna get someones attention

by the time you do the complete engine swap you could probably have put that money torwards other mods that would maybe get you close to the gains you would have gotten doing the engine swap and maybe have soem money left over. I am sure the vvt-i engines are not cheap since they have not been around very long unless you could find a totalled car withone for very little money.
Only two listed on Ebay right now and they are 2jz for 990.00 and a 1mz for for 1200.00.
Well maybe they woudnt be as expensive as I thought but then you still ahve to have all teh ECU and harness and on and on
