alternator for sure^
when i clean& degrease i like to disconnect the battery and cover it with some plastic ( just to be safe) i also cover the fuse box panel near the battery...yea its already covered but im paranoid about getting any water in there
wipe everything down dry after you spray it off you should be fine
oh and wear some gloves to protect yourself too some of those chemicals can be harsh
first wrap the alternator, the intake filter, the fuse boxes with foil...then disconnect the battery, honk the horn till no sound comes out...cover the terminals with plastic and a rubber band...then cover the parts you first covereed with foil with plastic bags also and cover use rubber bands to secure...then your set to degrease and spray away...
instead of using toxic degreasers and such... the absolute most effective thing i have ever used under my camrys hood is Simple Green Automotive Degreaser... look around for it its in a spray bottle like windex and its 100% non toxic... it doesnt sound very promising but it gets rid of THICK grease easily... spray it on.. let it sit... wipe it off and spray out the engine bay with a hose.
Both the Fusebox and the Air Filter are covered with Plastic Lids. Why the redundancy in covering them again?
How about the spark plug Area?
sorry thought you had a after market intake...and the fuse box...anything eletrical you dont wanna take a chance with...thats just my oppinion...plus its just a shoprite plastic bag your gonna sacrifice...so id rather use those than shorting out my battery and fuses.
maybe thats just me...no the spark plug area is safe...everything else in the engine bay is supposed to be oil proof//water proof...so those are fine..plus that area is dirty too isnt it...lol
oh yeh make sure you let the engine bay dry for at least an hour in the warm weather to evaporate water that mightt harm the eengine bay...
the last thing i did but no one has to do is touch it up with some highh heat paint...i did a nice aluminum and gloss black theme lol
I'm planning on doing my Engine Bay cleaning and detail.
I know i have to cover up the Alternator. But what else.
Any other electrical sensors and other stuff i need to cover up??
Forget all these cover up and stuff. Go get the Black magic's engine cleaner and detailer. It cleans anything under hood. Spray it on anything up there and see the shine in everything. I have used it on my '99 6 times by now. engine, transmission, hoses, wires fenders, heat cover you name it all shines great.
and rub it on the exhaust manifold heat shield. The more you rub/polish, the better it will look. It will shine up the metal pretty nice. It goes without saying, but do this when the engine is cold.

pressure wash and clean by hand with a degreaser like simple green or something and then polish the paint . Took me a long time to get it to the way it is now, btw the blue stuff is not changed

What year is that engine. My 93 engine compartment looks different. Windsheild washer tank is different, exhaust manifold is different, PS res is different, coolant res is different too. I also have the 4cly.
thank you! its a 95, they changed the engine in the 3.5 gen a little.
but yeah took me a long time to get it there, little by little, but its very clean, and keeping it like that is easier now that its clean and not greasy
