just wondering...does the 5sfTe pass regular inspection...or do you guyz do under the table stuff....just got most of my turbo parts in and just waiting for last few parts...so last few questions before i do the damn thing...and also how long ((prefferrably the quickest time)) the turbo could be installed by a proffessional who starts right away..
One of the nice things about living in Tennessee. All they do is look for a catalytic converter, check the fuel cap, then put the sniffer up the tail pipe on anything pre 97. FOr anything aftert 97 they jsut hook up the OBD and do a vacuum test onteh gas cap. They could care less about waht is actually under the hood of the car.

Read what i was suggesting, its not horribly under the table. Just classify it as a like year engine swap. The easiest way to get away with that would be to use a 3sgte head.
I found a guy who will probably classify a headswap as an engine swap for me.

Not true, there is emissions in Texas. I failed after my turbo was installed, but I just installed the hi flow cat at that time and it hadn't warmed up yet. On the second try, same day, I passed with no problem.
In Texas, I found a shop that does not do anything, they write me a stikcer and stick it on. In CA, I reg my car in Forestville, small town. That way, no SMOG test required.
just get it registered in ky. inspections are run on a city-by-city basis. as far as i know louisville is the only place it was required. and i even heard that they have or are going to be discontinuing it in the near fututre

That may be a strecth since he lives in Jersey.
