the majority of this place is Mobil 1/5k intervals, various filters but a few dont like fram ones.
id suggest you just go with a fully synth 10w-40 as mobil 1 may be a bit to light for an older engine (if you have an older car)
for the last 200k km ive used castrol magnatec and ryco oe filters at 10k km intervals with no oil/sludge problems at all

Yeah, I use Mobil 1, but I believe amsoil is better by a factor of 2. Hard to find and more expensive though.
My 1994 Camry has 233K on it, and the valves have never been set. I looked at the cam when I changed out the valve-cover o-ring and it looked good. It doesn't make that tapping sound that you get with conventional oil around 120K miles.
Oh yeah, I change every 10K miles. Mobil 1 doesn't 'wear out' in 5K. Probably doesn't wear out in 10K, but I don't like that black color it gets.
1993 Camry LE, 4-cylinder. 278,000 miles. Yes, that's right, two hundred seventy eight thousand miles.
Just changed oil to Mobil 1 5w-30, had it in for 2,000 miles so far.
No oil leaks or any other problems.
Original engine, never been serviced (i.e. original pistons, rings, cylinders, crank, etc..).
Why would Mobil 1 be too light?
Previous owner thought it was burning or leaking oil so they ran 20w-50 oil in it to slow down the burning, for the last couple years. It didn't have any effect.
I noticed it was leaking at the oil filter. I scraped the gasket area and it doesn't appear to leak anymore.
You know, my camry used oil when it was newer, maybe 1 qt in about 4K miles. Now it seems to be less, more like 1qt in 6K I'd guess. Thats not a lot I know, but some people with older camry's I've heard of using 1qt every 1000 miles. Must be common to the breed to some extent. I'm glad mine is slower now...
I have been using synthetic oil since I bought it with 20K miles on it. I have used Amsoil, Mobil 1, Royal purple. All three are great products. I love Royal purple because it gives me smooth ride. Has a habit of sheering down soon though. So you must follow direction that they provide. Amoil is another great product I have seen.
Yes, Mobil 1 is fully-synthetic. they just came out with new flavors also like 'Extended Performance' (good for 15,000 miles plus on the container) and I think '4x4 blend' or something like that. I like amsoil better but only because I've read the lab testing. Also you can't find amsoil at walmart for 20-22 bucks a 5 qt. jug. So I'll be using mobil 1 awhile longer...
This is what I've used every 4-5K miles: Regular Castrol 5W-30 with Toyota Filters. I've used it on:
93 Camry - 200K miles
92 Previa - 300K
04 Camry - 100K
04 Sienna - 20K
86 Celica - 800K
None burn any oil (less than a quart between changes)

I use Royal Purple tho. not in the Camry. What do you mean by "sheering down?" How do you determine that it occurs?
Using Valvoline High Mileage 10/30. It is slightly thicker than other 10/30 and has conditioners to help prevent valve and engine seals from drying out. It is VERY effective at eliminating/minimizing that infamous cloud of smoke on cold start up, that some Camry's (mine) can have.
