Hi,
I have Camry 2001 4cyl.I upgraded my Factory springs with s-tein because when I drive on hwy with full load on the rear, my rear fender touches my tires. My tire size is 215/50 R 17.I though changing spring will help this problem. Although s-tein improves the handling, my rear fenders are still touching my tires when i drive on bumpy roads.I then changed my rear shocks with tockico. When I press my car from the rear ends i feel my suspension is very firm compare to Audi or Altima. I pressed the rear ends of my firend's Altima 2.5S and compare to my camry, its pretty stiff.
I am wondering if myS-tein springs are deffective.
Should i bend my rear fender edge which touch my tires?
cut the fenders, its better to cut then roll, cheaper too.
but the other guy is right, you got wheels the wrong size for your car. although it may be close, its still wrong enough to hit something.

s-tech slams your car H-tech tiens are good. do you have added weight in your trunk like a Sub or smthn? i dunno man worse comes to worse cut your fenders.as long as your tire dosent rub against the main body it should be good
are you the dude that took my order from artsauto? lol --- still waiting for my s-tech springs..
Do you guys think Factory springs are stiffer than S-tein Spring? I though S-tein should be stiffer than factory springs. Eventhough i installed tockico shocks, my rear suspension is still soft.
By the way i do not have any subwoofer to add weight on the rea. This problem occurs when 2 people sit in the rear and I drive on uneven road(not flat...some curves) of the HWY.
To cut or roll me fender should i go to body shop or to any mechanics?
it might be ur tire or offset on ur wheel...i have 225/40/18 on my car with s-tech and tockico never rub....my s-tech is stiffer than my stock spring....

taimurakhter,
I have seen people roll fender lips with a wooden baseball bat.
Some use a heatgun to get the paint soft first and then run the bat between the fender and tire, rolling it with the tire. Do it slowly by hand. Be sure to check for paint cracks if you go this way. You can use touch up paint but apply it immediately
^ hahhaah i seen this done on pimp my ride. i thought it was a L.A thing
s-tech springs are for sure stiffer than stock. The camry was designed with softier springs to absorb bumps on the road, giving it the smooth ride. i'm guessing you got faulty springs. if not i would either bring the car to where you got the springs or you can try those wide body flares on e-bay.

shocks do the absorbing, hence shock absorbers. not springs.
springs determine ride height and inital compression preload.

Have you tried to press your rear end? Do you feel stiffer suspension? I pressed the rear end by hand and compared the stiffness with Nissan Altima 2.5S and i found that mine is softer than Altimas's rear end suspension. I am doubtful whether Tein -Stech spring are really a sports spring or not? In the website its claiming that it has a spring rate of 210lbs/inch for the rear ones and 150 lbs/inch for the front ones. Surpricingly, I found thast my front is stiffer than teh rear suspension.
Does anyone know whats the stock spring's rate for camry 01,4 cyl?
I am looking for suggestions....should i change the rear spring with factory ones? would it effect handling if i have 2 tein-s spring in the front and 2 factory springs in the rear with Tockico shocks?
No matter which spring I put in,I have to role my rear fender anyways since I guess my tire offsets are not balanced.

of course the fronts are going to be stiffer... it has to support the engine and the entire front end.
