I have a '97 Camry 4 cylinder. I tend to get right around 22 city and 30 highway, pretty close to the EPA estimates. But it still seems low for a 4 cylinder (and almost the same as a 6 cylinder), so I was wondering what other people get?
Oh well, driving to and from college station at about 90-95mph( I hate the stupid 55 speed limit) I usually use half a tank. It is about a 90 mile drive, I'll let you do the math
I've got a 2000 4cyl 5 spd. I typically get around 27mpg in town, like 32mpg on the highway, though the last trip I drove I made like 37mpg for some reason. It was way cool to drive across all of Iowa, all of Illinois, and half of Indiana on one tank of gas 8)
The 2.2L in the Camry doesn't get stellar gas consumption figures because the Camry is a heavy car. The 2.2L is pretty much being overworked. Then there's a question of whether your car has an automatic or a manual transmission. The only way to help that problem is to go easy on the right foot.
Does anyone besides me get bad gas milage in cold wheater? In the summer months I can go 400 miles before I have to fill up but durring the winter its more like 350-360.
Winter gas burns differently from regular gas. It is specially formulated for easier cold starts and burning in cold intake temps.
At the same time, if you live in a snow belt, the extra work required for the engine to drive the car in snow, slippage etc. can take a nick at gas mileage. People also tend to warm up their cars before driving off (eg. remote starters).
I have an auto. I've tried injector cleaner, new air filter, clean air box, new plugs, tire pressure, new tires, etc. I don't drive too fast . I never get combined driving above 24 mpg, but highway only I get 30. Just seemed low (and has been this way for the 50,000 miles I've owned it, cold or hot weather), but I don't know what to do next other than an O2 sensor and some top engine cleaner. But man, a couple more mpg would save a lot of dough .
I have a 1992 Toyota Camry LE 4 Cylinder and here is what I've got so far...
