Question How do you know wehn you should get new tires?

How can you tell that it's time for new tires? Ive done a search and I didnt find matching threads

rule of thumb is take a penny, turn it upside down so lincoln's head in on the bottom and put it into the tread. if you can see lincoln's hair, its time to get new tires. or if you see them balding and loosing grip too easily, time to get new tires.

2nd Generation

Brother, not to be a smart a**, but if you have a car, and can't tell when to change tires, you might consider some other mode of transportation. That being said, If your tires become "cupped out" from improper balancing, you should get tires. If your tires wear excessively from improper alighnment, you should change them. Some people measure their tires with a tread depth measuring gauge, and change tires when that depth is less than 1/8 of an inch. Personally, I run my tires until the steel belts become exposed. That, of course, is not the best advice, but that's what I do...

All tyres have a MINIMUM tread wear INDICATOR inside the tread
grooves if its down 2 that changeo presto....

seriously if you don't know take it to a garage or tire specialty shop and have them check. they might tell you how many miles you can get out of em.


on another note...winter is a few months away here in the Northeast USa
to you ppl who drive on unsafe worn tires and lose control in winter conditions.
whos gonna rear end me this year? jeez put on some good tires for winter!
