the exhaust pipes rust but at a minimal, just the skin cause the steel is fairly thick. and i believe they are not stainless steel. i recently just chopped off my muffler from the end of the resonator due to a drifting boo-boo. the flex pipe does rust a bit also. the cat, resonator, and muffler doesnt rust a lot, if not at all.
its stainless seel, just untreated so it rusts and browns quicker, remember ALL stainless steel rusts, just some grades rust quicker then others.

should be stainless steel as mentioned above. I just painted it glossy black to make it look better and way less worn out...a world of difference it makes.
Thanks guys for your responses. It certainly makes sense it being stainless steel because my 98 Camry has gone through 7 Toronto winters and there is very minimal rust on the entire length of the exhaust system right up and including the muffler.
Aluminized is usually for the skin sheet on your muffler, an inexpensive way to give it better rust resistance. The exhaust pipe is a type of stainless (maining less prone to staining/ rusting)
It has a high service temperature and alot of heat/cold cycling, so rust proofing in terms of a coating is not really a worth while expense. The inside is also subjected to harsh conditions, perhaps more corrosive than the outside.
