So my car engine had a small fire today.
I have a 1990 Camry Wagon with about 135k miles.
To make a longer story short, there were actual flames coming from where the spark plug wires cross under some sort of hose that looks like it connects to the air filter (thought I really don't know if that's what it is) Unfourtunately, I'm guessing that the car might be too far gone warrent getting it fixed, but I am waiting to hear from the mechanic it was towed to. However, it really didn't look to bad... just the spark plug wires and that hose piece were burnt (I think).
There was a warning sign for this, but I didn't realize how bad it was. Last night I noticed a noise that sounded like it could have been a belt spinning funny or fraying, but was unable to give it a good look last night. Then I forgot to check it this morning and that must have led to the fire. Argh.
Any guessed as to if the car can be saved and what caused the fire?
