3rd Generation dash lights

hey. i know the general routine of chaning out the lights in your gauges and HVAC console, but for the specifics:
1) for the gauges, can my LED 194 slip right into the casing?
2) for HVAC, the bulbs are right behind the knobs right? just pull em off and replace?

thanks in advance

NOTE: im no noob so please dont flame. also, no thread-hackers. dont come on and ask irrelevant questions for your car, that's what the "new topic" button is for.

1) yes except one which will fit a 74 bulb (i had to modify it)
2) I believe they are b/t knobs and behind recirculate switch, keep in mind led 74 bulbs are often very directional and tend to leave bright and dark areas in the HVAC. Happend to me when I turned it red, and the led 74s I got didn't go all the way in, I taped them in to the holes from the socket.

Hope this helps!

Brian

why would 3 gauges run off a 194 and one a 74?
also, could i put reflective metallic crap around the bulb to reflect light all around the HVAC?

ive done this using LEDs in my old Gen3.
http://www.geocities.com/terrynham/94camry.html

the 194 LEDs will fit just fine , the Gen3 uses 4 x 194 bulbs and 1 x 74 bulb.

as for the 74 bulb in the gauge, get a 74 Bulb Holder (just like your other 74 warning lights in the gauges) and a 74 LED Bulb and it will fit:

i also put reflective stuff inside the gauges, a/c controls and shifter light and it really makes the light output brighter
so if you can strategically put the foil around, it is well worth the effort

the problem with the HVAC controls, is that you need to literally take apart the panel to place the foil in...
there should be a clear plastic light dispersal piece in there somewhere, when you get that out you put foil on the back of that
i had the same problem with having dark spots, but this foil thing really helped with it, well it didnt fix it completely, but it is better than before anyway

(sorry, to whoever this pic belongs to, i didnt have a pic of a LHD Camry Gauge to draw on)

the red circles represent the bulb locations, the 4 194 bulbs and the 74 respectively.

the Temp and Fuel Guages dont have bulbs behind them, the light is emitted from the sides of the other 2 gauges to illuminate those if you look carefully.
