Mirrors arn't hard to replace, but it looks like the part of the door it is mounted to has ripped out also which either means you will either have to weld it or replace the door. Sucks dude.

Thats not good the way it looks like it ripped out a whole chunk of stuff from the inside..might want to consult a haynes manual or a mechanic on this one.
Well, the guy who did it is going to pay for it. I back backing up and he grabbed my mirror so he's going to pay for it. Police reports have already been filed. If I get pissed, I'll just take it to Toyota and have them do it. They said it would be about $300. Reason why I'm trying to hold off on Toyota is because they can't work on it until Tuesday.
Just pull the black plastic cover on teh inside of the door and you will see the two or three screws taht hold the mirro on. You can remove those screws and then you can have a better idea of what is going to have to be done. From the picture it is hard to tell if the metal plated that is bent/broken is part of the mirror or part of the door. If it is part of the door it may be a pretty good job if it is part of the mirror then all you will ahve to do is replace the mirror and be done with it.

PLEASE DO NOT GET RID OF THE OLD TN AS WE KNOW IT.
I replaced it today. The most difficult thing was removing the door panel to get to the electrical connection for the power mirror. That connection was down there. There were so many screws holding the door on and I missed the one screw that is hiding behind the door handle. I tried to pull the panel off and realized I had missed that screw so I went back to do it.
The only other issue was the OEM screws didn't work with the new unit I bought so I just bought some different screws and it was ready to go. I'm going to get some paint to match it and it will look like nothing every happened.
I was surprised at home relatively flimsy these side mirrors are. It seems like they would break quite easily.
thats so easy to fix, it would probable take you like 30 mins to get it fixed. just chare that guy those $300 bucks and get a junk yard one and keep the rest of the money.
i think this is the first time iv seen you post in here, did this happen at the high school?
No, it didn't happen at the high school. The high school case is closed now because they can't find the guy. They don't even know if he lives at the address he claims to live at.
This happened in some typical suburban town. That's the reason why the guy came up to my car. If this was in the city, he would've known better.
