irregardless if it will fit or not and how much it will affect your speedo by, the 235/50 will offer the tallest sidewall giving the car a bit of a softer ride. however, you should decide on how much it will affect the speedo and whether or not it will clear the struts. however, my rule of thumb is to get the tallest sidewall possible so you don't feel EVERY bump in the road.
my 2 cents.

I'd go with 215/50/17 myself. You can find good long lasting tires in that size that are sporty, yet comfortable. And it matches the outer diameter of the 205/65/15 tire perfectly.
copy that dudes, always the sidewall factor. 215/50/17 would be the middle ground between 215/45 and 215/55. roads are indeed bumby in all major cities especially up in the northeast. what would be the best compromise at the 235/ level? like 4 Banger mentioned 235/50/17 sounds good at that option. 95 White has a good point. note sure if plus sizing is a science or an art? lol. looks like both... thanks for feedback.

copy that. for 55 do i need to go with 17x7.5 ? or 18"
That doesn't matter... you can have a 55 profile on any size rim. What matters is the overall width... you shouldn't put 235 width tires on a 7" wide rim. On a hard turn, your tire will roll right off the rim. 225 is the max for a 7" rim.

Glaring blue HID bulbs are NOT classy, and don't make your car look nice, no matter what that kid in the Civic told you.

dont know how hard youre driving... i have 215's on a 6" rim (as you know this is way oversied, heck, 205 is still wide for a 6" rim) i can drive hard enough to driv eon the sidewalls even with 44psi in the tyres and theres no hint of them saying they wanna roll off the wheel.
to the original question, its hard to pick a size as its dependant onthe rubber compound you plan to use and also what type of contro/comfort youre willing to have. i voted no:1 as that is the most aggresive sporty option you listed.

Hey, don't snap at me about it. greylock is a former mechanic, and he said he's seen it before. So I'll take his word for it.
