Yester day i decided to take off from a stop sing and turn left at full trottle when the engine reved all the was up(din't look at my rpm's) but when i thought it shifted to second while still spinning it sounded like the engine cut off or it probably wanted to stall because the engine could not take the secong gear.so my question isn has anyone's camry doen that while peeling out? I had the O/D swhich off and the ETC power button on. This was my first major burnout. I decided to do it because i know my engine and tranny is in good shape from changing the oil and good maintnace. the tranny still shifts the same as before. Please don't hate me for doing that.

Yes it happens because it's a Toyota Camry, not made for high revving and peeling out. I HATE the top end on my V6, it has such a tiny powerband (3,500-5,500rpms)
when i pealed it my engine sounded very loud, kind of like a mad honda. im not sure but i think that my camry went atleast 5500 rpm but im not sure. it might of gone more since i had the etc button on and you know that makes the engine hold it's rpm higher.
You've just hit the factory rev limiter... By peeling out in first so sudden, the transmission will not allow 2nd gear and holds it in 1st for a while. This is why the engine felt like it was cutting out. No worries there, just make sure you don't do it everyday

Yea um i thought my tranny was killing my engine as if it was tring to enter to 2nd gear. No i don't do that every day. infact this was my first time doing a mojor one likee this. i think if i do it again i'll probably do it while the pave ment is wet. i bet that will hold the rev limitor longer hu? or i might enter in 2nd, but if i do try it again i won't be so hard on it. Oh yea um i did it to show off my friend that was next to me and he was like dam this shit burns rubba!
Um...There is no way to start in second gear. If you place it in "2" it will start in first and then switch to second. If you are in "2" and you're rollin at like 10 mph and you kick the throttle down it will drop you into first gear.
costs a few bucks in solenoids and switches (and a small amount of eletrical engineering knowledge) to do that.

The only cars i know that will start in second are usually cars with ETC-Snow mode.
And engine power does sort of cut out when burning out like that. Been doing that on regular pavement and on slick surfaces....rest assured it will eventually kick into 2nd gear, especially if you let up off the throttle and then floor it again. Although on slilck surfaces with a 1mzfe and with some nearly balded tires you can do burn outs almost anywhere!
the shifting electronics are quite basic for our 4spd autos. 2 solenoids determin what gear the tranny to shift into. bypass the shifter and wireup something staright to the tranny for a tiptronic style shift, but a lot more positive.
