Gen5 What are your thoughts about what I did?

Hey people! I recently modified my weapon r short ram intake, I posted a thread about it a month or so ago. I just got some intake extension hose from AutoZone and ran it down towards the bumper kind of behind and to the left of the radiator. Question, is this a bad location? I have not had any problems or lose of performance or lose of gas mileage. Actually I have noticed an increase in gas mileage and the intake piping is much cooler!

well it all depends. The whole point of relocationg your intake would be to make it comparative to a cold air intake. The reason for this is becasue fuel mixes better with colder air. So if you relocated it down behind the radiator, the radiator is hot so the air isent as cold as you would like it to be. OR you could have it in a cooler spot. It all depends on the surrounding components to the relocation. ALSO being down next to the front bumper and radiator, If you hit a big puddle and splashes into your engin compartment your FUCKED. If that intake breaths in an abundunce of water and it gets into your combustion chamber you wont like the outcome. Most people I know with CAI's take them off durring winter and the wet season and have a backup RAI in place temporarily

probably invest in an aem bypass valve for such a low intake. you could also try to route into the driver side fender and open up the lower fender skirt or fabricate an air duct.

Having it in front of the radiator would be FAR better because the ai there is as COLD as you can get...behind the rad is quite warm still. Yes its not AS hot..because your getting air rushing through there but still..pure cold air from outside will always be better.
