4th Generation 10 yr. air bag maintenance

Hi guys,
Today I just happened to be glancing up at the driver's-side sun visor where theres a warning label attached. It talks about the potential dangers of the air bag and also the dangers of a child seat in the wrong position etc. At the bottom it says that the air bag requires maintenance 10 yrs after the date of manufacture.I hope you all are aware of this, those of you who have a gen 4.

They all say these. The only thing that the dealer can really do is make sure the airbag light is working. There is no real way to test the system.

your airbag system is self-tests everytime you turn on your car to make sure nothing is wrong

if there is something wrong, the airbag light goes on- there is no need for maintenance

^ yeah thats right. if the light on the gauge is on then your air bag still in working condition.

also you might consider getting getting new seat belts. from what i heard after 10yrs they tend to get weaker.

I had my 1990 celica airbags tested at the dealership in 2003! (it was a free too). The tech, walked around the car, checked the sensors&positioning and checked the light. Thats all he did. I agree if the sensor's are worn and if the airbag light is off.. its not easily noticable...but i guess it for those fools who ignored the light and then the bulb wore off (they then assuming all was normal).
