3rd Generation Paint Question. (Warranty)

Okay I have had a few 'spots' under the clearcoat and on top of the paint. They have been there for the past 3 years and haven't done anything. But today washing my car I noticed a pea-sized spot where the clearcoat was gone.

Now I assume that Toyota has a warranty for paint defects. It is clearly a defect, since no weather, rocks or I could cause damage UNDER the clearcoat...I was wondering what the warranty for such a defect would be. People are telling me there should be a warranty of such on the paint...regardless of the year. (It's a 95 LE).

Tomorrow I am taking her to an autobody shop to see what they think, get some prices and I am going to call Toyota to see what the deal is with defects in the paint...Any help would be appreciated.

Lauren if it is rust through. Meaning the rust has gone all the way through the sheetmetal it is covered for 5 years /unlimited mileage by Toyota. SO in other words there is nothing that can be done about it by Toyota. All they are going to say is environmental hazards and that kind of stuff probably. Mine is doing the same thing but nothing that can really be done about it short of repainting.

This aint no Hyundai!

not as bad as our old 1987 Nissan Sentra. the silver paint was well known to just fall off. After 7-8 years, the entire roof was bare metal, nissan denied any responsibility, even though 90% of silver nissan sentras had that problem

lemme know if you need it painted....my sponsorshop would do it pretty cheap, and only a modest 5 hours away....

seriously, Kingston's right, could have been a rock, birdpoo, lovestain that just didn't get cleaned off and took some coat with it

Uh why don't you read what I said? Some cars have rust warranty stuff-I WS CHECKING TO SEE IF PEOPLE KNEW ABOUT A WARRANTY. Some of us aren't made of fucking money. if they will then why not.

Neil I think I may take you up on that offer possibly. I am taking to a local garage tomorrow and getting an opinion. In all honesty it sounds crazy for a 95, but it's in great condition.

And the spots are CLEARLY under the clearcoat and my car has always had wax on it...there are a bunch of these blemishes on the hood and roof...I'll take pics tomorrow in the light.

And thanks Cyorke. It's not rust though.

I did read what you wrote and nowhere in it did you mention anything about rust! Just spots.
Just don't take it personal when they laugh you out of the dealership!

Funny cause I went into my local dealership and they DIDN'T laugh at me. They actually are going to look into it for me.

I would appreciate it if you didn't whore up my thread. I'm asking for help, not rude comments.

OS they say they are going to look into it for you huh. That is good I would have thought they would have told you there was nothing that could be done since the car was as old as it is. Maybe you will get lucky and they will cut you some slcak on it.

You didnt flash them any of your supreme pictures to make the deal sweeter for them did you?

No my panties are NOT in a bunch! It's a thong! But seriously telling me to 'get real' is not helping me. I am having a bad week and my car which I take very good care of is in need of help.

Anywho, I didn't expect them to warranty the paint because of the age, but my neighbor who is a Toyota mechanic told me to look into it though...they might 'help'. And looks like they are.
(And no I didn't flash them my Supreme pics...but they COULD help maybe. )
I might get the whole car repainted. Thanks chronoti for checking for me-I doubt it will cover it. I'm just gonna have to look up my domestic car contacts and see about repainting it.
