Fuel indicator

Hi all.

I brought a toyota camry 93.
Now i am facing following problem.
Initially my fuel indicator was working properly.
Two day before i filed my gas tank fully.
After that my fuel indicator is not working.
It is always pointing Full even if i turn off the engine.
Can anybody tell me what the problem is .

And how much should i need to spend on that make it proper.

Thanks in advance

Welcome to TN, and alot of cars's Gas Guages dont read E when shut off for a lil while because a timed relay keeps the Accesories in the car on so you can roll up windows and such. I know that in my 1990 Camry the gause gauge always read the same when the car was off....hell even a year later of sitting it still has the same gas reading.

Does the needle ever go down?

OK, you've told us two different cases. One, the indicator is always on Full and the other the indicator is always on Empty. I don't believe it matters which. It sounds like the sensor in the tank has broken. You might have a little bit of warrantee on the used car if it's only been a few days. Wouldn't hurt to check. Otherwise drive the car until almost empty (set your trip meter to judge) and then drop the tank and replace the sensor and fuel pump (one unit I believe). While you're in there check for gunk in the tank and replace the filter sock. It's a pain to do so I would consider using new Toyota parts rather than have to redo it because of faulty parts later.

Of course, the free work arround is to reset your trip meter every time you fill up and then refill the tank when it registers between 200 and 300 miles. Not very elegant but it works!
