Tony the Tiger and others who have had a 1MZ & 3VZ appart

I need a little help from the camry guys. I hope you dont mind this isnt really a camry but, the swap can be done into a camry just as easy.

Here is the issue I have:

I am working on a valve spring kit for my 5VZ-FE engine. I will also eventually be putting togeather one for the 3VZ-FE. I am a little concerned about the short duration cam lobes in my 5VZ-FE and the much higher redline im planning. Nobody manufactures cams for this motor yet and regrinds are not really ideal since the lobe is so close to the cam rod itself putting a lot of stress on the lifters.

What I hope can be done:

If you look closeley at the 5VZ-FE you will see that the cams have the notch in the end for a distributor. This is strange because toyota has never had a distro on the 5VZ. This got me thinking that the cams are possibly the same in either the 1MZ or 3VZ just with different grinds.

Here is what I need your help on:

I need some quick pics of a cyl head with the valve covers off ( both 3VZ and 1MZ) so I can see if they are even remotely similar. I suspect that there is at least one other engine that the same cam blanks are used in. Why else would toyota machine out the goove for a distributor? The notch is NOT part of the casting and the only explination for this is there are other engines using the SAME camshaft blanks. Otherwise toyota would have stoped cutting the distributor notch. If your cams look like these I need the mesurements of the cam lobes (center to center) as well as the c2c of the caps and total length of the intake and exhaust cam. My cams have a 3 cast in them so that my tell us something too.

Am I right or am I crazy (or both)

Anyway, on to the pics of my spare 5VZ engine. The other one is in my car if you were wondering
