2nd Generation Another noise problem lol :P

Ok i have a noise, but i roughly know what it is, or what it could be.

When i'm accelerating hard and hit 3000-4000 rpm's, i have this kind of knocking noise coming from the front drivers side :S, but it only happens if the cars under load, ie hard accelerating or if i'm in 5th doing say 40km/h. Now a mechanic said its bearings in the motor, but i've had a second mechanic look at it and he said its not. I talked to a toyota wrecker and he thought it could be the exhurst heat shield, coz its on bad condition, (would explain why it only happens when the cars hot).

Any ideas? Suggestions, or if someones had this before, its driving me nuts :P coz it makes the car sound horrible.

Thanks Matt

lol heatsheild if its like rattling noise but if its knocking... cv joint. Try turning left to right lock to lock in about 10 miles per hour and if you hear a loud knock its the cv joint.
