Suggestion new battery for my car.

I want to buy a optima battery for my car but I don't know which color I should buy. I don't have amp or any audio upgrade yet, but will consider to get it later. Which one do you guy recommend? The red top or yellow top? I don't really understand the different between those two. Can someone please explain for me.

when you go to buy one ask the store which one has higher amperage out put and higher crangking amps. that will save you time and money when you go to put a stereo system in. the higher the cranking amps the better your sound sysem will resond when hiting deep bass notes. im sure youve seen cars with big systems but at night the headlights dim(?) that cause the amp is overdrawing the battery. the battery can't recharge fast enough. but it all that depends on how big of asystem you want.

The yellow top is a deep cycle battery, designed for running accessories for extended periods with the car off. If you don't plan on doing this, it's a waste of money. The only advantages of a red top over most regular high quality batteries is low rate of power loss while sitting dormant and it's leak proof. These qualities, although nice, are not neccessary for most users and don't come for free. A good quality battery will probably cost half as much and give similar output.

This has more to do with a poor charger than the battery.

i wouldnt go telling anyone to not buy an optima, although they may not NEED one absolutely. yes, it's an AGM battery and wont spill or leak. besides that, it's supposed to be fourteen times more resistant to vibration. also, it will charge twice as fast as a regular battery will. the red top batteries have a MINIMUM 720 CCA's, so that's certainly something to note. and the yellow top (deep cycle) can be drained and recharged about 350 times.

they're awesome batteries. they'll last you twice as long as your standard battery.

however...for real powerful systems hitting for spl, you can try kinetik batteries or the BATCAP. caps are good along with a nice ground system.

any sealed battery (or "maintenence free") will do, doesnt have to be AGM.

if you feel that you need to spend 4x more on a battery, go for it.

make sure it meets the cca etc for the car.

one thing to note, camry battery terminals are reversed from most cars.

yellow-top...saved my ass many times, playing ps2 w/ my system going for hours

but if cranking is more important, then red-top

I'm also a big fan of optimas just because they look good

I have a Interstate battery right now. It's only 1 year old. The reason I want to get the optima is because I will give this battery to my g/f's old rolla. That's why I think I should just upgrade something since I have to get a new one anyway. I think I will get the yellow top. Is it a round $160 right??

i have killed my optima yellow top a few times and it has always come back just as good as ever - i have had 2... if you are not really going to be into any heavy AV stuff - everybody seems to say the red top is fine them

but the yellow top has always done me well - i will keep buying optimas until something drastically changes my opinion
