does my Gen 3 V6 need platinum plugs or just normal NGK's? i did like 5 ssearchs and every time it came back with something different. this is just a stock daily driver. i just want O.E. replacements. also what all do you recamend to be done at a 140,000 miles? i am getting oil changed with mobil 1. new plugs, fuel filter, wires, cap, rotor, pcv, and maybe O2 sensors. anything else?

Everything you said you were going to replace will be good. As for the plugs Toyota recommends platinum dont they, so I say go with them. I am not sure about the 3VZ engine that being the case but I know the 1MZ it is. Also if you go with non platinum they will need to be replaced in a shorter amount of time and if you are doing it yourself you would much rather replace them every 60k miles than every 30k miles or so.

PLEASE DO NOT GET RID OF THE OLD TN AS WE KNOW IT.
Just go with the single tip iridium plugs. That's what I have in my 1MZ and they'll probably out-last the car. There's really no gain in the multi-tipped plugs. Spark can only jump to one tip at a time...

On my 93 3vz, it says on the fan shroud on a little sticker that toyota reccomends platinum plugs. I'm not quoting it or anything as I can't remember exazctly what it says, but it does say platinum spark plugs on the sticker.
you should use platinum... whats the difference 1 dollar per plug... you are a fool if you dont get platinum. i spent 14 dollars per plug on my car, for iridiums, and you are worried about what, 4 vs 5 dollar plugs.
What about the transmission fluid? How old is that? I would consider a tranny fluid change and also check the brakes and brake fluid. Brake fluid is super cheap and easy to change.
just have the timing belt replaced 5000 miles ago, trans service with that also. brake fluid is still pretty clear. i got the car from an old man and it was very well taken care of.
