4th Generation Headlight Adjustment

Hey all, recently I notice my right light is aiming a bit lower than my left light. I borrowed Hayes Manual and check for headlight adjustment but the picture is black and white and too dark and it's based on Avalon so I have no idea what is the manual pointing at. When I look behind my right headlight I see a gold color screw is that the one? Also which direction is turning high? Thanks for helping me out.

yea, that sounds like the screw for the vertical adjustment. I believe it was counter-clockwise to go up, clock-wise to go down.

Think there should be another pointing up. But yes, that looks like it.

yuppers....the one that he shows, adjusts the spread of the beam, while the other one adjusts the height

the best way to figure it out is to park in front of a wall at night, turn on your lights, and then go at it with a ratchet

that one moves it from left to right. there should be another one that sticks up right behind the headlight assmebly that moves it up and down. I know on my Gen3 it is against the fender. it should be taht gold or brass colored also.

Just put in some new headlight bulbs, and used that screw to adjust the heighth. It is a bit against logic, since it first looks like it would be the screw to use to adjust the beam from left to right, since it is on the side, rather than the top or bottom. But that is the correct screw to adjust your up/down beam of headlights

To be honest the only left and right screws are simply the ones up in the front where u can see it when you open ur hood. If you screw it out the headlight unit as a whole will pan out to the left or right, and same effect for screwing it in more.

I've adjusted my headlights to pretty much give me a wider area of light coverage by having both units tilt out more. Sorry if this is confusing i can try to clear up what i say if necessary
